Being Confident In Prayer

The prayer of faith is prayed with confident expectation. To have a confident expectation, we must know God's will before we pray- in fact, we have no right to ask unless we know His will.

And this is the confidence that we have toward him, that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. And if we know that he hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests that we have asked of him. 1 John 5: 14-15 ESV

There are times and ways we pray when we may not be sure of God's will. We can pray prayers of consecration. We can pray in the Spirit and intercede in ways our mind is not fully aware of, but we're still praying things that are the will of God. (1 Corinthians 14:14)

However, being confident of God's will changes the way you pray when praying for specific outcomes

The following is a guide to praying a prayer of faith.

1. You must first be fully convinced, from the Word of God, of God's will on the matter. (Matthew 10:5-8)

2a. If what you require is in an area over which you have authority (i.e. demonic activity, sickness, oppression, fear etc.)- speak directly to it and command it to change. (John 14:12-14) 2b. If what you require is something that God has promised, bring your request to the Father- along with your reasons for believing (i.e.- His promises). Ask Him for what He has promised. (John 14:12-14)

3. Believe you have received what you require. (Mark 11:22-24)

4. Continue to give thanks for the answer and act as though it is yours! (Philippians 4:6, Mark 11:24)

The prayer of faith is confident. So, confident it believes it receives what it has asked for! The Bible could have said, "God might say yes, he might say no, or he might say wait". But it didn't! The Bible says 'we know that we have whatever we ask!'. To have that sort of confidence, we need to be sure of God's will.
