How to Fight a Defeated Foe

1 Peter 5:8-9 "Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. 9 Resist him, firm in your faith."

When Jesus died on the cross, He completely disarmed and stripped the devil of his power! Since we are Born Again and In Christ, Jesus' victory is our victory! The devil is a defeated foe, and yet he still goes around like a roaring lion.

How do we, as believers, fight a defeated enemy?1 Peter 5:8-9 tells us exactly what we're supposed to do.

The devil's only weapon is deception, and he will try to deceive us with his lies. But we don't have to succumb to his schemes! We have the truth of God's Word and resist him in faith!

When Jesus was in the wilderness, the devil tried to deceive Him with lies, but Jesus spoke the Word of God, and He overcame the devil with the truth of God's Word.

That's how Jesus overcame the devil, and we follow His example, so we overcome the devil the same way: with the Truth of God's Word!

Don't allow the deception and lies of the devil to take root in your mind; speak God's Word to every deceptive thought, and you will see the devil flee from you! (James 4:7)
