coming home

Luke 15:21: “Then the son said, ‘Father, I was wrong. I have sinned against you. I could never deserve to be called your son. Just let me be—’

“The father interrupted and said, ‘Son, you’re home now!’

In this parable of the prodigal son, Jesus demonstrates the heart of our Heavenly Father towards us. After the prodigal son wasted all of his father’s inheritance and ended up losing everything, the son finally came to the realisation that he could go home and perhaps he could be a servant in his fathers household.

Little did the son know that his father was looking for him, waiting for him to come home to where he belonged. When the son was still a long way off, the father saw him and ran to greet him! The kindness and mercy of the father restored his son to his rightful position as son, not as a servant.

This is God’s heart towards us! When we gave our lives to God and made Jesus Lord of our lives, He restored us to our rightful place as God’s sons and daughters. In God’s eyes, we are completely holy, blameless, and above reproach (Colossians 1:22). Through the death and resurrection of Jesus, we have been made the righteousness of God in Christ!

How wonderful and kind our Heavenly Father is that we would be called His sons and daughters! Right standing with God is not based upon our works or self-effort; it is based upon what Jesus did for us! We can’t grow in righteousness because we have been righteous in Christ, but we can grow in our understanding of who we already are in Christ. When we take time to read and meditate upon God’s Word and what He has said about us, the way we see ourselves begins to change, and we can start seeing ourselves the way God does.

We don’t have to let condemnation and guilt dictate our worthiness; God has already defined our worth through the death of His Son!

In God’s eyes, you are completely holy and righteous! Believe it and speak that over yourself on a consistent basis because it is the truth!

Remember, we love you, and we are praying for you.

Blessings,

Chloe
