The Kingdom of God is Spiritual
2 Kings 6:17 “Then Elisha prayed and said, “O Lord, I pray, open his eyes that he may see.” And the Lord opened the servant’s eyes and he saw; and behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha.”
The Kingdom of God is not seen or understood with the natural senses. The Kingdom of God is spiritual and we need light to be able to understand everything that God has given to us and who He has made us to be.
In this account, we have Elisha praying to the Lord that He would open the eyes of his servant so that he could see the truth of the situation. Although in the natural, it looked like they were in a hopeless situation, surrounded by armies, the truth was that there was actually more with Elisha and his servant than there were people coming against them.
How God sees and perceives things is true; He sees things for how they actually are. It is us who need to change our perception so that we may partake of everything God has made available to us.
Throughout the New Testament, we see Paul and Peter praying for the church that they would see and understand through the Light of the Gospel everything that has already been given to us and everything that we already are. That’s what the Holy Spirit does for us: He helps us see who we are in Christ and understand what we have in Christ.
That’s why we need light! The Holy Spirit is so faithful to give us light, we just have to desire it, yield to it.
The Apostle Paul prayed for the church in Ephesus that the eyes of their heart would be enlightened so that they would know the hope of His calling. He didn’t pray asking God to bless them, He asked the Lord to open the eyes of their heart so that they could see the truth that they are already blessed. Just like Elisha prayed for his servant to be able to see into the spirit realm and see the truth that they had way more for them than there was against them, that truth changed the way the servant responded to the problem.
In the same way, as we begin to see and understand who we are spiritually, who we are in Christ, and everything that belongs to us, we change the way we respond to the problems of life.
How wonderful the Holy Spirit is in giving us light and understanding! Let us always be grateful for the light that we have and value it by walking in it.
Remember, we love you, and we are paying for you.
Blessings,
Chloe
