He Justified Us
Romans 4:3-5: "For what does the Scripture say? “Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness.” Now to him who works, the wages are not counted as grace but as debt. But to him who does not work but believes on Him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is accounted for righteousness.”
The truth of the Gospel is life-changing! When we begin to understand the revelation of who we are in Christ, it changes everything. It changes how we talk, act, make decisions, think, relate to others, and, most importantly, connect with God.
For most people, their natural default is to judge themselves by their own works. People who tend to compare themselves with others tend to justify their actions based on their motives, meanwhile judging others based on their actions.
However, when it comes to righteousness, only God can be the one who can declare someone righteous because He is holy. Righteousness doesn’t come by us working for it. Righteousness is not a debt that is owed because we did it all right, righteousness is received. Abraham simply believed God and it was accounted to him (Abraham) as righteousness.
The Bible doesn’t say, “Because Abraham was a good man, God credited his good works with righteousness.” The Bible says, “Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness.”
It was Abraham’s faith in God that made him righteous.
It is the same for us! We don’t receive righteousness as a debt owed to us because of us earning it, we are declared righteous because we believe that God justifies the ungodly! It’s because God is so merciful and so good, He has made a way for us to be justified, and that is through Jesus!
God has justified us! The more we meditate on this truth, the more we will understand the true nature of who we are in Christ. We can’t grow in righteousness, but we can grow in our understanding of the truth that we are righteous. The more we grow in our understanding of who we are, the more it will impact the way we live.
Praise God that He’s the God who justifies the ungodly! When God declares us righteous, who are we to say otherwise? Let’s agree with what God has said about us and boldly declare, “I have been made the righteousness of God in Christ!” (2 Corinthians 5:21)
Remember, we love you, and we are praying for you.
