Our Very Present Help
Psalm 46:1: “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear…”
How wonderful it is to know that the same God who was with Abraham, the same God who was with Moses, the same God who was with David and Daniel, and all of the wonderful patriarchs of old is the exact same God who is with us.
In John chapter eight, Jesus says to the Pharisees, “Before Abraham was, I Am.” He was letting them know that He was the One that had been there since the beginning. He was the one present in Abraham’s life and Moses’s life, and now He was living amongst them, right in front of their eyes.
The wonderful truth is that because Jesus lived on the earth as a man and won the victory over the devil and the kingdom of darkness through the cross, now the very Spirit of God, His presence, lives on the inside of anyone who receives Jesus as Lord of their life.
The Great I AM lives inside of us! He is our very present help!
Hebrews 11:6 says, “ But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is,and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.”
As we learned from the sermon yesterday, believing “He is” is not just simply believing that God exists; it is believing that God is there with us, active, and His presence is right there with us to work on our behalf. When we understand that truth, it will greatly impact the way we live.
The Psalmist says in the abovementioned verse, “God is our refuge and strength, a VERY present help in trouble.” That’s why we don’t have to fear! We have the great I AM living inside of us, strengthening us, protecting us, leading us, and helping us.
I encourage you to meditate on these truths this week, let it sink into your heart and mind that God’s presence is right there with you, and He is ready to help you as you call upon Him and lean on His love.
Remember, we love you, and we are praying for you.
Blessings,
Chloe
