Only Believe

Mark 5:35-36: " While he was still speaking, people came from the synagogue leader's house and said, "Your daughter is dead. Why bother the teacher anymore?" When Jesus overheard what was said, he told the synagogue leader, "Don't be afraid. Only believe."

We all will come across times when we receive bad news. We will face challenges and difficulties, but as believers, we can have a different response to bad news.

When Jairus received the worst news a father could ever hear, he was faced with feelings and thoughts of fear, hopelessness, and panic. But if we look at the command of Jesus when He turns to Jairus and says, "Don't be afraid. Only believe." We can learn from the words of Jesus that we can have a different response when bad news comes.

Fear will try and come on us with thoughts and feelings, but we have the responsibility of guarding our hearts against fear. (Proverbs 4:20). It can be easy to think that fear is just a normal response, that we can't help but be afraid when we receive bad news. The truth is that God has given us everything we need to overcome fear.

2 Timothy 1:7 says, "For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind." and 1 John 4:18 says, "Perfect love drives out fear…"

When the pressures of this world come upon us, we have God's power, love and peace to help us respond to the situationin faith rather than react out of fear.

We remain steady and fixed upon God's promises and refuse to move from our faith. Just like Jairus, he heeded Jesus' command to "Not be afraid, only believe." As a result of his steadfast faith, Jesus was able to have access to that situation and raise his daughter from the dead.

No matter what news may come your way, no matter how big the situation looks, it is nothing compared to the promises of God. You don't have to be afraid of bad news; you can choose to keep your heart steady on God's Word and rest in the love that God has for you.

Remember, we love you, and we are praying for you.

Blessings,

Chloe
