The Ministry of the Spirit
Romans 8:16-17 "The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ..."
Part of the ministry of the Holy Spirit is to remind us of who we are in Christ.
Many people live their lives under a cloud of guilt and same. They identify with their past and view themselves as a sinner.
But that's not what God says about us, and that's not the ministry of the Holy Spirit.
The Holy Spirit actually bears witness with our spirit that we are a child of God, that we are joint heirs with Christ!
Colossians 1:22 says that we are holy and blameless in His (God's) sight!
The Holy Spirit doesn't condemn us with guilt and accuse us of everything we've done wrong. Instead, He reminds us of everything Jesus did and that because of His victory on the cross, we are also made righteous, holy, sanctified, and more than conquerors!
We can always tell the difference between when the Spirit of God is speaking to us and when the enemy is speaking. The Holy Spirit bears witness with our spirit. That means the Holy Spirit speaks to our spirits (our hearts), not our minds, about who we are. The devil will use thoughts from the outside against our minds. Satan's thoughts are oppressive, destructive, and filled with pressure and shame. So whenever a thought comes our way that brings guilt and condemnation, we know that it is from the enemy, and we have the authority to cast it down! (2 Corinthians 10:3-5) When the Holy Spirit speaks to us, He speaks to our hearts; His leading and guidance comes from within us and enlightens our mind. He will bear witness that you are a child of God, that you are righteous in God's sight, that you are holy and sanctified! This is who we are, not because of our own actions and behaviour, but because what Jesus did on the cross, once and for all made us worthy!
Let's start acting like who we already are!
Allow the Holy Spirit to remind you of the truth of what God says about you.
He's within us, always ready to remind us of the truth!
Remember, we love you, and we are praying for you.
Love Chloe
